About - Nutan Vidyalaya Society, Gulbarga.
The bugle of the First Indian Freedom Struggle in the year 1857 ushered in a new era in the Indian history. At about the same time or little earlier the Bombay Madras rail track was laid by the British G.I.P. Railway Company which opened a new history for the people of Gulbarga. Gulbarga being on the railway line between Bombay and Madras, come closer to Bombay and the outside world and it was the beginning of the new opportunities and think waves which swayed away the lives of the Gulbarga District.

The youths of the district, started visiting Pune and Bombay mostly for their higher education and thus came in contact with the freedom movement then led by Lokamanya Balgangadhar Tilak. Because of the railway line the district head quarter was shifted to Gulbarga town once again Gulbarga began to enjoy the prominence after the down fall of Bahamani Dynasty. All there had a lasting impact on the middle class society of the Gulbarga district. Late Sri Vithalrao Deulgaonkar, one of the leading lawyers of the town then with the like minded friends, having thus been inspired by the dynamic leadership of Lokamanya Tilak started Nutan Vidyalaya School and Society with primary classes as an humble beginning, with a desire to inculcate national values and spirit among the children of the district. However, the hostile attitude of the government never deterred the school and the society from marching towards its goal of freedom struggle. Some of the officers of the Nizam government being considerate had at times praised the school and the society, serving the cause of education and this has gone on record.
